Prior to this he worked with Breach Candy Hospital & also at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai. He did his fellowship in Surgical Oncology from M. P. Shah Cancer Hospital, Ahmedabad.

He is also trained in MLSCOPY & LASER SURGERY from KIEL, Germany. Dr. V.P. Singh was instrumental in establishing the department of Surgical Oncology at Mahavir Cancer Sansthan & RCC, IGIMS, Patna. It was his dynamic effort that DNB teaching at Mahavir Cancer Sansthan, Patna got the recognition. Under his guidance many students have been trained in Cancer surgery.

He is practicing & performing Cancer Surgery in Patna for the past 16 years.

His area of interest is to provide cost effective treatment to poor class patients, optimizing the reach of cancer treatment to all. He is also interested in new areas of treatment like targeted therapies, genomic profiling, pain management and palliative care for terminally ill patients.
